Thank goodness I pay the bills

Below is a real conversation between Jeremy and I, believe it or not:

Me: "So I am taking off work tomorrow to take care of some things before we move into our home."

Jeremy: "Like what things?"

Me: "Well, I need to turn off all our utilities here and have them turned on at our new place."

Jeremy: "What utilities do you need to turn on?"

Me: "Power, water, security, internet, gas..."

Jeremy: "You mean, those things aren't automatically turned on?"

Me: "No, you have to call and set them up. If you don't, you won't have any of them."

Jeremy: "Oh, I just thought the companies sent the bill to the house and whoever lived there paid it."

Me: "Really? How do you think our names are on the bills each month?"

Jeremy: "I never paid attention."

And, yes, he is an electrical engineer....

Actually, this story is somewhat embellished for the sake of Jessica's blog. The only thing I questioned was the fact that electricity didn't really need to be 'turned on'. It's electricity, you just consume it....then the story turns into this....typical.
